MOUNT VERNON — Patricia Kathryn Purdum, 68, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Danville.
She was born Aug. 12, 1941, in Muskingum County to the late Clyde and Lucille (Miller) Vincent. Patricia was employed as a property manager at the Showe Management Corp. in Columbus, and after retirement she worked as a caregiver for Knox County MRDD. She attended the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple, was a member of the Knox County Chapter of the Ohio Eastern Star for over 35 years, Women’s Auxiliary VFW 4027, Women of the Moose, was a founding member of the Wild Ones Bowling League, was a member of the 500 Club, and was active in the Ladies Golf Leagues at Hiawatha, Tomahawk and Apple Valley. Patricia was active with children in Scouts, 4-H as an advisor and was the PTA president in Zanesville.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Purdum; a daughter, Christina (David) Ihinger of Danville; a son, Bob (Pearl) Purdum of Mount Liberty; seven grandchildren, Adam Hayman, Michelle Ihinger, Alex Bias, Austin Bias, Katie Carr, Tina Ihinger and Heidi Purdum; a great-grandson, Aaron Hayman; a brother, Joseph Vincent of Zanesville; and a sister, Susan McGee of Adamsville.
Besides her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Carr.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where a service will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating.
