Edward R. Shuff

MOUNT VERNON — Edward R. “Shafto” Shuff, 56, of Mount Vernon died Aug. 31, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born June 25, 1953, in Mount Vernon to Loren “Bud” and Nellie (Newhouse) Shuff. He retired from American National Can where he was a union steward and a member of the company’s volunteer fire department. He was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge, Eagles, AMVETS Post 95, VFW Post 4027. He also enjoyed hunting, golf and watching old movies.

He is survived by his daughters, Angie (Trent) Davis of Utica and Jennifer Shuff-Marsell of Mount Vernon; sister, Linda (Dave) Neer of Mount Vernon; brother, Brad (Paige) Shuff of Webb City, Mo.; grandchildren, Ashley Marsell, Corey Davis and Jaeli Davis; also several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a half brother, Jack McGreevy.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dan Lund officiating.
