A. Elwood Wells

UTICA — A funeral service for A. Elwood Wells, 96, of Utica will be Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, with Pastor Terry Holobaugh CLP officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.

Elwood died Sept. 1, 2009, at Arlington Care Center, Newark. He was born July 4, 1913, in Outville to the late William P. and Mary E. (Cunningham) Wells. He was a member of Utica Presbyterian Church, 1931 Granville High School graduate, Denison University graduate, Phi Beta Kappa. Elwood was a World War II Navy veteran, Lieutenant Senior Grade, and he was a retired Civil Engineer with the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was also a 75-year member of the Center Star Lodge 11, F&AM, and attended the Utica Coffee Club.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn A. (Matthews) Wells; son, Elwood F. Wells of Gambier; daughter and son-in-law, Beth Ann and Mike Kennedy of Thornville; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kerri Beth Kennedy; and sister, Valeria Burris.

Friends may call Friday, Sept. 4, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N Main St., Utica, where a Masonic service will be at 5:45 p.m.
