MOUNT VERNON — John R. “John Boy” Starmer Jr., 49, of Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 15, 1959, to John Starmer and Bonnie (Atherton) Starmer. John currently worked for Eagle Ridge Nursery near Gambier. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and fishing. Most important to him was the time he spent with his family and children.
He is survived by his father, John (Geneva) Starmer Sr. of Mount Vernon; a son, Jordan Starmer of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Olivia Starmer of Mount Vernon; the mother of his children, Lori Starmer; a brother, Robert (Susan) Starmer of Amity; four sisters, Paula (Fred) Miller of Mount Vernon, Shirley (Rod) Ketter of Howard, Debbie Starmer of Mount Vernon, Carol (Dean) McCutchen of Mount Vernon; three stepbrothers, Timothy Grubaugh, Robert Grubaugh, Donald Huggins Jr.; a stepsister, Donna Jean Bell; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie (Atherton) Starmer; and a sister, Mary Pruett.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army Church. Major Robert Bender will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
