NEWARK — A funeral service for Corena M. Staugh, 74, of Newark will be held today at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Nichols officiating. Entombment will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.
Corena died Sept. 4, 2009, at her residence. She was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Frankfort, Ky., to the late Martin and Hazel (Arthurs) Hanners. Her passion was her children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their sporting events. She also volunteered as a candy striper with Licking Memorial Hospital and with the Division of Wildlife as a bald eagle observer, and loved rescuing animals in need.
She is survived by son, Richard and Diana Staugh of Frazeysburg; daughters, Beth Myers of Mount Vernon, and Joyce and Steve Boeshart of Utica; sister, Helen and Kenneth Oakleaf of Granville; sister-in-law, Judy Hanners of St. Louisville; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1995; son, Russell A., in 1988; brothers, Marvin and George Hanners; and sister, Ruth Hanners.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Wildlife Central Office, 2045 Morse Road, Bldg. G-1, Columbus, OH 43229-6693 — Attention Bald Eagle Restoration Fund.
Visitation was Monday at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.
