Sharon A. Vance

MOUNT VERNON — Sharon A. Vance, 65, of Maplewood Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 28, 1944, in Mount Vernon to the late James and Marjorie (Hagans) Miller. Sharon worked as an aide at The Living Center, Knox Community Hospital and Country Court Nursing Home and served as a volunteer for many hours at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Sharon enjoyed the simple things in life and took great pride in her yard work and flowers at her house.

She is survived by her beloved husband, whom she married on Dec. 1, 1962, Ireland “JR” Vance; two sons, Troy (Linette) Vance and their children, Jordan and Jarod Vance of Mount Vernon, Chris (Mariann) Vance and their children, Cole and Cory Vance of Mount Vernon; four brothers, Jim Miller, Billy McMurtry of Mount Vernon, Kelly McMurtry of Mount Vernon, Mark (Candy) Thomas of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Debbie Everhart of Amity and Lisa (Fred) Gartin of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. Evangelist Matthew Pond and Evangelist Fred Albrecht will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
