CUYAHOGA FALLS — Shirley A. (Steckler) Gareri of Cuyahoga Falls passed away Sept. 7, 2009.
She was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Mount Vernon. She graduated from Kent State University and for 30 years she was a dietitian. For many years she worked side by side with her husband, Aurelio “Albert,” who operated Gareri’s Spaghetti House, a Main Street landmark. Shirley then worked and retired from Massillon Community Hospital. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed organ recitals and the Cleveland Indians, but most of all she always put family first. The loves of her life were her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Aurelio, she will be sadly missed by her sons, Mark (Cindy) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Fredrick (Shelley) of Akron; sister, Barb (Roger) Berle of Prescott, Ariz.; grandchildren; A.J., Luke, Wyatt and Taylor.
Calling hours will be today, Sept. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ciriello and Carr Falls Chapel, 810 Portage Tr. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
