MOUNT VERNON — Dora May Sperling, 76, of Avalon Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
She was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Mount Vernon to the late Clem and Hazel (Scoles) Campbell. Dora worked for a short time at Continental Can in Mount Vernon, but spent most of her time being a loving mother.
She is survived by a son, Jeff (Pam) Sperling of Westerville; four daughters, Sharon Gibb of Mount Vernon, Gay Nell (Joe) Seymour of Loudonville, Suzie Wolf of New Florence, Pa., and Jacki (Larry) Clark of Willis, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Polly Finnell of Danville; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Sperling; a brother, Buck Campbell; and a sister, Doris Hankins.
A funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Larry McNutt will be officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw.
