DANVILLE — William Arondell “Bill” Miller, 75, of Danville died Sept. 10, 2009, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born April 13, 1934, in Danville to the late Amos and Della Marie (Beatty) Miller. He was a retired employee of the former United Telephone Co. Bill was a member and current treasurer of the Dutch Run Trinity United Church of Christ of Warsaw. He was a past member of the Danville Volunteer Fire Department and a founding member of the Danville Emergency Squad. He was a former council member and mayor of the village of Danville. A past member of the Danville Lions Club, a former Little League baseball coach, a member of The Sanctuary Board in Danville, a driver for Meals On Wheels, a member of the Danville 200 Club, a 12-year member of the Danville Local School Board, and supported numerous Danville school activities.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda N. (Terry) Sheldon and Wendy Colopy of Danville and GiGi Phillips of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Tara L. Colopy, Tanya L. Sheldon (Buck Strausbaugh), Christopher W. (Lindsey) Colopy, Luke L. Colopy and Trevor A. Phillips; a sister, Joella (David) Ruch of Bedford; a brother, Robert D. (Bonnie) Miller of Mount Vernon; and a special friend, Dorothy Thompson of Danville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie (Hartman) Miller, whom he married Aug. 2, 1953; she died Jan. 1, 2000.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Danville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne P. Harman officiating. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Danville. Visitation is Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville and one hour prior to the service at the church.
