Opal L. Weaver

UTICA — A funeral service for Opal L. (Smoots) Weaver of Utica will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Kelley will be officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.

Opal died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Utica to the late Stanley M. and Lucy J. (Hauger) Smoots. She retired from North Fork Schools, and was a member of the Utica United Methodist Church, life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Utica Historical Society, member of the Utica Friendly Senior Citizens, AARP and the Heisey Collectors of America.

She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, David and Delores Weaver of Elkview, W.Va., and Frederick Weaver of Utica; sister, Frances “Becky” Squires of Oregon, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley E. and Dixie Smoots of Utica, and Raymond and Sallie Smoots of Lindale, Texas; two grandchildren, Derek A. (Heather) Weaver of Raleigh, N.C., and Patrick A. (Tracy) Weaver of Baden, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Sam and Nicholas Weaver.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48-plus years, Owen F. Weaver; sister, Christine Earlewine; and brother, George P. Smoots.

Friends may call Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., P.O. Box 456, Utica, Ohio.
