WAYNESVILLE, N.C. — Roy D. Dowis, 78, of Waynesville, N.C., formerly of Baltimore, Ohio, passed away Sept. 13, 2009.
He was born June 21, 1931, to the late Lloyd and Florence (Lepley) Dowis in Walhonding.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Eichhorn; son, Kenneth (Chris Holcombe) Dowis; daughters, Jeannette (Rick) Johnston and Beverly Aronhalt; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Childress; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Sexton) Dowis; son, Gregory Dowis; sister, Shirley Yarman; and brother, Junior Dowis.
Roy loved fishing, hunting and spending time at his cottage at Buckeye Lake. He was the former owner of Norcol Gun Shop in Columbus.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., Pataskala, OH 43062. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
