MOUNT VERNON — Ryan Wayne Maggard, 27, of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, after a courageous battle with ALS.
He was born Dec. 6, 1981, at Fort Knox, Ky., to Matthew W. and Kim R. (Roser) Maggard. Ryan attended the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Mount Vernon. He was employed with Edwards Sheet Metal in Fredericktown. Along with being an avid Buckeyes fan, he enjoyed golf, fishing, singing and playing guitar. His love for music was immeasurable.
Ryan is survived by his wife of five years, Michael B. (Frazier) Maggard; his daughter, Aspen Maggard; his son, Evan Maggard; his mother, Kim Maggard of Mount Vernon; three brothers, Alex (Teresa) Maggard of Bellville, Lucas Maggard and Eric Maggard, both of Mount Vernon; his sister, Lisa (Mike) Mazza of Howard; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hector and Montenique Frazier and Landon “Biff” and Amanda Frazier, all of Fredericktown; nieces and nephews, Blake, Jordan and Tori Maggard, Aron and John Mazza, Makaya, Arilyn and Coen Frazier; paternal grandparents, Gary and Geraldine Maggard of Mount Vernon; maternal grandparents, Kathy and Gary Young of Columbus and Richard and Sharri Roser of Alabama; father and mother-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Frazier of Fredericktown; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Maggard on Aug. 9, 2009.
There will be no calling hours. A private family graveside funeral service will be held with Pastor Don Matolyak officiating.
All family and friends are invited to a celebration of Ryan’s life on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the home of Beverly Fearn, 17950 Buena Vista Road, Fredericktown. The family asks for everyone to attend wearing Ohio State attire.
Memorial contributions, for the education of his children Aspen and Evan, may be made to the First-Knox National Bank in care of Michael Maggard.
