FRAZEYSBURG — Hazel C. Sterling, 94, of Dresden died Saturday morning, Sept. 19, 2009, at Autumn Health Care Center of Zanesville.
Born Dec. 20, 1914, in Duncan Falls, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Bessie Mae (Morris) Trout and was a graduate of Kirkersville High School. Mrs. Sterling was a waitress at the Frazeysburg Truck Stop for 18 years, retiring in 1980. Previously, she had been a waitress at Judy’s Truck Stop in Zanesville. She attended the Nashport United Methodist Church and she assisted her late husband in producing the Teamster’s monthly newsletter.
Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Betty Sterling of Dresden, Bill and Kathy Sterling of Frazeysburg, Fred and Linda Sterling of Nashport, and Jay D. and Lisa Sterling of Nashport; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Charles Burchett of Zanesville, Patty and Darrell Bernier of Gorham, N.H, Hazel and Russell Sensibaugh of Utica, and Cathy and Mike Evans of Utica; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. “Bill” Sterling, whom she married June 29, 1937, and who died Sept. 15, 1986; three brothers, Morris, Hoadley and Enos Trout; five sisters, Elizabeth Cooper, Helen Farnsworth, Hilda Tracey, Hope Wollard and Maxine Trout; and one great-grandchild.
Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil-Orr & Chute Funeral Home, 110 W. Third St., Frazeysburg. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
