David Whitney Reeder

UTICA — A celebration of the life for David Whitney Reeder, 59, of Utica will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Moose Lodge 499, 235 W. National Drive, Newark.

David died Sept. 8, 2009, at Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio surrounded by family and friends. He was born Feb. 3, 1950, in Mount Vernon to the late Neil and Faith (Whitney) Reeder. He was an alumnus of Utica High School, attended Ohio Wesleyan and graduated from The Ohio State University. He worked at the Petroleum UST Board of Ohio, where he was to retire on Sept. 25 as the assistant director. He served as a member of the Licking County Board of Health for over 10 years. He was also a longtime officer at the Newark Moose Lodge, where he helped in many charitable events.

David was an avid golfer and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed vacationing with his wife, Candy, and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren, Zoe and Zane.

He is survived by wife, Candace (Roberts) Reeder; son, David Whitney Reeder II; daughter, Tiffany Reeder; and grandchildren, Zoe and Zane.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rebecca Conley; and granddaughter, Hannah.

The Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica, assisted the family.
