ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Jeanette F. Von Ins, 91, of the Glenmoor the Life Care Resort Community at World Golf Village, passed away Sept. 29, 2009, at Glenmoor Health Center.
She was born in Port Clyde, Nova Scotia, and was a longtime resident of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, where she owned and operated a motel for many years. Jeanette moved to Sebring, Fla., in the early 1980s and later lived in the Apple Valley community of Howard, Ohio. She had resided in St. Augustine since 2001. While in Ohio, she attended Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and attended Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine.
She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Roy E. Von Ins of St. Augustine; a son, James E. Von Ins Sr. of Saginaw, Mich.; a daughter, Mary Von Ins of Hilliard; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and close friends, Hugh and Ola MacKay of Shelburne, Nova Scotia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Safford; her parents, Avery and Hattie Van Nordan; a brother, Herman Van Nordan; and a sister, Evelyn Nickerson.
Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Warren Outewaite officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. (one hour prior to the funeral service) on Tuesday at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church.
