MOUNT VERNON — Richard John “Rich” Phillips, 50, of Mount Vernon died unexpectedly Oct. 2, 2009, in the Emergency Room at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1959, in Mount Vernon to John W. and Helen L. (Piar) Phillips. He was a 1977 graduated of Mount Vernon High School and had been a 32-year employee of TRW.
He is survived by his parents; daughter, Hanna Phillips, and son, Dakota “Cody” Phillips, both of Mount Vernon; one sister Jeanne L. Phillips of Heath; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Oscar and Mary Alta Piar; paternal grandparents, G. Walter and Ida Jane Phillips; and infant sister, Mary Lou Phillips.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where a prayer service will follow at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
