James O. Dilger

DELAWARE — James Owings Dilger, 79, of Delaware, died Oct. 5, 2009, in St. Ann’s Hospital.

He was born May 11, 1930, to Fred Thomas and Edna (Owings) Dilger in Centerburg. He graduated from Centerburg High School in 1949. He was part owner of New Method Cleaners in Delaware and owner of Jimmy D Cleaners in Marysville. He was a member of Bellpoint United Methodist Church, a former member of the Marysville Noon Lions Club and Union County Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving are a son, David (Cindy) Dilger, and two daughters, Jann (Ben) Martin, Lisa (Ron) Thompson, all of Delaware; grandchildren, Michelle (Phil) Smallets, Kyle (Melissa) Martin, Amanda Swendrick, Tara (Cliff) Horrmann, Brad Thompson and Kevin Thompson; great-grandchildren, Scott, Kali, Sam, Andrew, Kassidy, Ryan, Skyler, Gabe; sister, Helen Wollett of Centerburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (Ufferman) Dilger; son, Ric Dilger; brothers, Charles, Bud, Frederick.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Robinson Funeral Home in Delaware, where a funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul McCullough officiating. Burial in Fairview Memorial Park, with military honors by the Delaware County Veterans Association.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 471 E. Broad St., Suite 1630, Columbus, OH 43215; or the National Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 1373 Grandview Ave., Suite 200, Columbus, OH 43212.
