John ‘Jack’ Burson

LONG BEACH, Calif. — John Burson, 71, a teacher and administrator at St. Anthony and Mater Dei high schools for more than 30 years, died Sept. 19, 2009.

John is survived by lifetime friend and partner, John Johnson of Long Beach; a brother-in-law, Andy Bellomo of Palm Springs; nephews, Jim (Kathleen) Bellomo of Redmond, Wash., Steve (Jamie) Bellomo of Capistrano and John Bellomo of Hollywood; niece, Rene (Danny) Church of Joshua Tree; three grandnephews; four grandnieces.

His sister, Jane, passed away in 2006.

On Oct. 17 at 11 a.m., a memorial Mass will be said at the St. Bartholomew Church, 4545 E. 4th St., Long Beach, with the Rev. Msgr. Bernard Leheny, pastor, and the Rev. Msgr. Sean Flanagan, emeritus pastor, presiding. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City will be scheduled at a later date.

Holy Cross Mortuary of Culver City handled the arrangements. Remembrances may be sent to The Norbortine Sisters at Bethlehem Priory of St. Joseph, 17831 Water Canyon Road, Tehachapi, CA 93561.
