MOUNT VERNON — Robert “Bob” Murdock, 49, of Mount Vernon passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at his home.
Bob was born in Mount Vernon, the son of the late Richard (Dick) and W. Louise Morrison. Bob served in the U.S. Army having served in Germany.
He is survived by his son, Devin (Quentin) Murdock, and daughter, Velanna Harris, both of Columbus. He was also survived by his sister, Shawn (Dean) Hammons of Howard. Also surviving are his stepbrothers, David Morrison and Richard (Rick) Morrison; and stepsister, A. Kay Morrison; as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mable G. Hampton; and uncle, David Hampton.
Bob’s greatest passion was supporting the veterans of all the military services. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 95 in Mount Vernon, as well as being voted the highest visitor of Post 1928 in Columbus, recently becoming a Color Guard. Bob enjoyed dedicating his time to the various charitable activities through the AMVETS aiding the veterans and their families.
A memorial service will be held at the AMVETS Post 95 Annex Building on South Mechanic Street in Mount Vernon on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m.
