KETTERING — Norman Stanley Phillips, 76, of Kettering passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, in Dayton.
Norman graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering in 1955. He also received Master of Science degrees in engineering and education from the University of Dayton, where he retired in 2005 as a professor emeritus. Norman joined the NROTC in 1951 and later served as an aviator for the U.S. Navy.
Norman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dee; his children, Lisa (Ken) Philippart, Allison (Jim) Codispoti and Diana (Michael) Nelson; and his grandchildren, Katie Taylor, Ben and Rebecca Codispoti, and Alyx, Danielle, Jon and Tyler Nelson.
The family asks that contributions be made to the University of Dayton School of Engineering for a scholarship in his name. Contributions can be mailed to Norman S. Phillips Scholarship Fund, School of Engineering, University of Dayton, 300 College Park Drive, Dayton, OH 45469. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at the Woodland Cemetery. Tobias Funeral Home-Far Hills Chapel in care of arrangements.
