MOUNT VERNON — Thomas J. Rhodes, 63, of Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 21, 1945, in Columbus, a son of the late Rollie and Elizabeth (Dennis) Rhodes. Thomas was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mount Vernon. He worked at the Meijer Co. in Westerville. Thomas enjoyed collecting records and listening to music.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife, Mary N. (Medlin) Rhodes, whom he married on March 16, 1979; a daughter, Dawn Rhodes of Minneapolis, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Janet (Merlin) Fletcher of Utica; stepsons, Andrew Miller of Phoenix, Ariz., Paul (Annie) Miller of Grove City, Minn., and Steven Miller of Utica; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will have a memorial service celebrating the life of Thomas on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 14 Taylor Road, Mount Vernon.
