Herbert A. Mackey

KILLBUCK — Herbert A. Mackey, 88, of Killbuck died Thursday evening, Oct. 22, 2009, at Sycamore Run Nursing Home, Millersburg, following a short illness.

Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Sunnyside Cemetery, Glenmont, with the Rev. Gerald Craycraft officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Killbuck VFW.

Friends may call Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio.

He was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Glenmont, and was the son of George and Gertrude (Clark) Mackey. On Oct. 14, 1944, he married Marjorie Ellen Butler, she survives.

He was a graduate of Glenmont High School and had worked for PPG Industries in Mount Vernon, retiring in 1975. Herbert was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years are five children and their spouses, Dennis and Cheryl Mackey of Killbuck, Rodney Mackey of Apple Creek, Herbert M. and Sharon Mackey of Glenmont, Wendy and Scott Craycraft of Caldwell and Ellen and Dave Phlieger of Barberton; seven grandchildren, Brant (April), Tara, Nolan, Ben and Kevin Mackey, Crystal Craycraft and Jacob Phlieger; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Keely Mackey.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Ray Mackey.
