NEWARK — A funeral service for Carl Franklin Bagent Sr., 90, of Newark will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Leon F. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Carl died Oct. 24, 2009, at his residence. He was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Newark to the late Andrew J. and Freda C. (Moody) Bagent. Mr. Bagent retired from Roper after serving over 38 years as a enameler and machinist. He then retired from Tectum as well in 1984 where he was an active member of the Machinist Union. Carl loved his family, enjoyed fishing, was a yard sale enthusiast and enjoyed his freedom of driving until his passing.
He is survived by his daughter, Susanne Swartz of St. Louisville; son, Carl F. (Cheri) Bagent Jr. of Howard; six grandchildren, Lisa Martin, Carol (Wayne) Miller, Chuck (Lacey) Seville, Jennnifer (DJ) Joerger, Justin (Ester) Bagent and Joe (Mi Randa Lea) Swartz; eight great-grandchildren, Sean, Tristin, Nicole, Jacob, Noah, Joelle, Ava, Ozlynn and one on the way Alexis; and sister, Clara Drumm of Heath.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne L. (Carey) Bagent; sister, Virginia Sayers; two brothers, Fred E. Bagent and Charles A. Bagent; and grandson, Andrew G. Bagent.
Friends may call Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 59 N. Fifth St., Newark, OH 43055.
