MOUNT VERNON — I. Anita Sturgeon, 97, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at her home near Mount Vernon.

She was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Union County to Leila (Arnold) and Denver Barry. She was a homemaker and spent most of her life in Scioto Township. She was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon and the Ostrander Senior Citizens.

She is survived by four daughters, Connie (Richard) Fetter of Marion, Maxine (Richard) Kelley of Ashley, Betty (Donald) Owen of Mount Vernon and Donna (Charles) Pletcher of Marietta, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Arlen, in 1961; and her husband, Arnold, in 1976; one great-grandson, Rick Kelley; and two great-great-grandsons, Kevin Chaffin and Stanley Beery.

A graveside service for the family was held in Claibourne Cemetery, Richwood, with the Rev. Gerald Bell officiating.

The Robinson Funeral Home, Delaware, is in charge of arrangements.
