CARDINGTON — James C. Carter Jr., 71, of Cardington, formerly of Columbus, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Bennington Glen in Marengo.
Born Aug. 9, 1938, in Columbus to the late James C. and Ethel (Claire) Carter Sr., he was a U.S. Marine veteran. A truck driver, he retired from Yellow Freight a member of Teamsters Local 413. He enjoyed life over the road as well as fishing. A former member of the Columbus and Delaware Moose Lodges, he made the lives of those he came into contact with better. Steadfast and true, he was considered a lifesaver to many.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Charlie) Cackler of Cardington; grandsons, Seth (Britni) Carter and Kyle Reisinger; and former wife, Peggy Chattos.
Preceded in death by his wife, Madeline; and brothers, Bob, Jack and Harry.
