MOUNT VERNON — Dr. Philip A. Mack, D.D.S., 75, of Stevens Street, Mount Vernon, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Mount Vernon to the late Dr. Alexander and Amy (Ross) Mack, M.D. Dr. Mack was a 1958 graduate of The Ohio State University Dental School, and owned and operated his own office in Mount Vernon. He was a member of the WD Miller Dental Society, 50-year member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and a life member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Dr. Mack was a past member of the Exchange Club and Old Homestead Club of Mount Vernon and a past board member of the Mount Vernon Developmental Center.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anna (Beckett) Mack; two sons, Dennis Mack of Gahanna and Brian Mack of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Kimberly Mack of Mount Vernon and Jennifer Mack of Mount Vernon; a grandson, Ryan Delahanty; two sisters, Ann Kester of Newark and Anita (Dr. Robert) Beatty of East Liverpool, Ohio; many loving and caring patients, friends and extended family including his pets.
Dr. Mack recently retired in 2009 after 50 years of service to Mount Vernon and his family would like to extend a special thank you to his staff, Susan Moreland, Melissa Niday and Karen Wise.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Sharon Kiesel will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
