MOUNT VERNON — Vivian Jane Walpole, 67, of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Vivian was born Dec. 10, 1941, in Huntington, Ind., to Joseph Hazen Wilkinson and Donna L. (Hunter) Shaffer. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Walpole; sons, Eldon Wilson of Danville, Troy Wilson of Mount Vernon and Fred Smith of Wyoming; daughters, Tonya Fowler of Mount Gilead, Valerie Woods of Martinsburg and Wendy LaPiana of Mount Vernon; stepdaughters, Debi Vanhouten of Danville, Pam Vanderpool of Howard and Lori Gardner of Mount Vernon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Wilber A. Wilkinson of Dayton, Roger Wilkinson of Texas and Gerald “Jerry” Shaffer of Centerburg; and sisters, Vietta Dillon of Texas and Pat Wilkinson of Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Lee Wilson; and an uncle, the Rev. James Hunter.
Friends may call Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Monroe Mills.
