HOMER — Helen L. Martin, 85, of Homer passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at the home of her son.
Helen was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Germantown, to the late Clarence and Verna (Koon) Barth. She spent her early life in Germantown and moved to Homer with her husband, Earl, who passed away on Jan. 6, 1985. She attended Salem Liberty High School. Helen was a homemaker and at one time worked part time at the Homer Post Office. She loved cooking, making homemade noodles and pies and liked watching all sports and country music concerts. She especially enjoyed Christmas holidays and spending it with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Davis of Whipple; her son, Terry (Carolyn) Martin of Utica; sister, Vera Sarver of Marietta; brother, Dale Barth of Charleston, S.C.; grandson, Derek (Lori) Davis, and two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Courtney Davis, all of Myrtle Beach; an uncle, Charles Barth of Marietta; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Fay Zinn and Ruth Batten; and her special friend, Mark Ransom.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 30, at 1:30 p.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, 314 Fourth St., Marietta, Ohio. Burial will be in Salem Township cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today after 4 p.m.
