MOUNT VERNON — Amos B. Cheeseboro Sr., 73, of Wildwood Lane West, Mount Vernon, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born March 29, 1936 in Mobile, Ala., to the late George and Flossie (Benning) Cheeseboro. Amos served in the U.S. Army and attended Montgomery Community College. He attended the Mount Vernon Seventh-day Adventist Hill Church. Amos worked for the federal government, Giant Foods and the U.S. Post Office in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife of over 22 years, Enid (Yearwood) Cheeseboro; three sons, Bryan (Tamara) Cheeseboro of Burtonsville, Md., Amos Benning Cheeseboro Jr. of Washington, D.C., and Benjamin Cheeseboro of the home; two daughters, Sherri Cheeseboro of Oakland, Calif., and Belinda Cheeseboro of the home; stepson, Burton Savary of Trinidad, West Indies; four grandchildren, Taylor, Courtney, Vivian and Savannah Cheeseboro; three stepgrandchildren, Anthony, Rajah and Reyvon Savary; three brothers, Robert (Margaret) Cheeseboro of Los Angeles, Calif., George Cheeseboro of Lexington Park, Md., and Benjamin Cheeseboro of Phoenix, Ariz.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Reba Cheeseboro; and an infant son, Benjamin Noah Cheeseboro.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Seventh-day Adventist Hill Church. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Amos B. Cheeseboro.
