MOUNT VERNON — Mary L. Parker, 84, of Delano Street, Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born March 3, 1925, in Mount Vernon to the late Charles and Lillian (Dougherty) Blair. Mary and her husband, the late John William Parker, worked and maintained the family farm near Centerburg. She was a member of the Newark Road Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Max) Waddell of Mount Vernon; a granddaughter, Patricia (Jamie) Fry of Johnstown; a brother, Ed Blair of Mount Vernon; and a sister, Edith Wise of Mount Vernon.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, William Parker and Russell Carter; a brother, Charles Blair; and a sister, Janette Neighbarger.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Mr. J. Andrew “Andy” Jooste will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
