MOUNT VERNON — John K. Mauler Sr., 82, of Sychar Road, Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born July 29, 1927, in Mount Vernon to the late Glenn and Icle (Clements) Mauler. John served in the U.S. Army and worked as an independent truck driver. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and AMVETS Post 95, both of Mount Vernon.
He is survived by three sons, John (Cheryl) Mauler Jr. of Mount Vernon, Jonathan Mauler of Mount Vernon and Mark (Candy) Thomas of Mount Vernon; four daughters, Vicki (Tony) Watson of Suffolk, Va., Kathie (Terry) Fowler of Howard, Lisa (Fred) Gartin of Delaware and Amanda Mauler of Mount Vernon; stepchildren, John Kelly McMurtry of Mount Vernon, Bill (Connie) McMurtry of Mount Vernon and Debbie Everhart of Howard; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis “Phyd” Mauler of Mount Vernon and Lillian “Squirt” (Jim) Gray of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Sharon Vance; two brothers, Willard Mauler and Robert Mauler; and a sister, Glenna McMahon.
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. Mr. Frank Hux will officiate. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
