MOUNT VERNON — Mary Ann Meehan has made “Heaven First and Earth Last” having concluded her earthly journey on Nov. 8, 2009.

Mary was born in Homestead, Pa., to the late Frank and Vera (Anagnos) Johnson, but spent the greater part of her life in the Mount Vernon area, a community she loved dearly. She was a 1945 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and cherished her continued friendships with special classmates.

Among her many treasured activities, Mary especially looked forward to the Sips group outings led by Shirley Slaughter who would never take, “No I can’t make it,” for a reason to not be there. She loved the “gab” fests with the girls from the class of 1945 and the outings with the Mount Vernon Telephone Company clan. The list of very special friends is too numerous to mention, but you all know how much Mary loved you. Her warm and infectious laughter will be remembered by many.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane (John) Ferguson of Mount Vernon and their children, Jacob, Jack and Joey, Julie Meehan of Mount Vernon and Jennifer (Matthew) Streiff of Pittsburgh, Pa., and their children, Benjamin and Anna; a brother, John Johnson of Mount Vernon; nieces and nephews, Jill (Michael) Hannah, Terri Johnson, Vera (Ray) Lindeman, Dr. Alex (Linda) Johnson and Frank (Eleni) Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Anthi Johnson.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex Johnson and Charles Johnson.

From the immediate family, a grateful acknowledgment to Roxanne Berry, Betty George, Frankie Parker and Shirley Slaughter for your unconditional love.

Friends may call Tuesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. This obituary and guest registry are online at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.

The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mary Ann Meehan.
