MOUNT VERNON — Richard R. Smith, 67, of Mount Vernon died Nov. 6, 2009, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Sept. 20, 1942, in Mount Clemens, Mich. Richard was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He retired from TRW in 2007 after 37 years with the company as an engineer and was a Navy veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sandra L. (Brown) Smith; daughters, Kristina M. “Kriss” Smith of Mount Vernon, Amy E. (Dan) Burns of Columbus; his mother, Mabel Smith of Algonac, Mich.; a granddaughter, Shelby M. Smith of Mount Vernon; sister, Karen (Kenny) Rohrbeck of Richmond, Mich.; brother, David (Bridget) Smith of Lenox, Mich.; sister-in-law, Sharon (George) Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, James Evans of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his mother-in-law, Viola H. Brown of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Smith; and his father-in-law, George W. Brown.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 20177 Wooster Road, with Pastor Thomas Heil officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council.
