MOUNT VERNON — Richard Joseph Carrier, 73, of Mount Vernon passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2009, in Mount Vernon.
He was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Penacook, N.H., a son of the late Jack and Lucille (Tyger) Carrier. Richard was a 1955 graduate of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School in Mount Vernon and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He retired from TRW in Mount Vernon. Richard enjoyed riding his bike on the Kokosing Gap Trail, traveling and camping.
Richard is survived by his wife, Jo Anne (Ferenbaugh) Carrier, whom he married on Aug. 31, 1956; sons, Michael (Maryjo) Carrier of Missoula, Mont., and Gregg Carrier of El Paso, Texas; special children, Scott and Tiffany Spitler of Mount Vernon; a granddaughter, Nicole Carrier of Missoula, Mont.; special grandchildren, Morgan and Brayden Spitler of Mount Vernon; brothers, Bernard (Linda) Carrier of Mount Vernon, Jack (Nadine) Carrier of Indiana, Pa., and Charles (Beverly) of Galion; and a sister, Carla (Chris) Finnegan of Galion.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Bobby Carrier, preceded Richard in death.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
