EARLYSVILLE, Va. — Charles M. Walters, 75, of Earlysville, Va., died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the University Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.

He was born May 18, 1934, in Hagerstown, Ind., the son of Charles and Ruth (Smith) Walters. Charles graduated Hagerstown High in 1951 and received a B.A. from the University of Cincinnati in 1955. Charles worked as a Director of State and Local Taxes for Champion International, both in Hamilton, Ohio, and Stamford, Conn., and then Borden Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Hamilton, and a member of the Tax Executive Institute.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Walters of Earlysville, Va.; three children, Lisa Walters of Andover, Mass., Cindy Walters of Charlottesville, Va., and Charles Eric Walters of Glen Ridge, N.J.; and four grandchildren, Claire and Beau LeBlond, Olivia Adilman and Ingrid Walters.

Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald, who perished during World War II while serving in Cherbourg, France; and his sisters, June Deardorf and Joyce Dotson, both of Richmond, Ind.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at the Grace United Methodist Church, 1200 Main St., Hamilton, OH 45015. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m. followed by a brief service at 4 p.m.

A reception will be held following the service in the church fellowship hall. Seating and food will be provided.
