MOUNT VERNON — Richard G. Hannan, 81, of North Sandusky Street, Mount Vernon, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

He was born June 2, 1928, in Canton to the late Glenn and Opal (Doup) Hannan. Richard retired in 1983 after 39 years of employment with Chattanooga Glass Co., in Mount Vernon. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Mount Vernon.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty (Frye) Hannan; two sons, David (Julie) Hannan of Beavercreek and Glenn (Mary Lou) Hannan of Fredericktown; two daughters, Connie (Terry) Sheets of Fredericktown and Sue (Greg) Davis of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, Jessie Ian Hannan, Mike (Jessica) Hannan, Matt Hannan, Trever Davis, Samantha Davis and Treg Davis; two brothers and two sisters.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister.

The family will observe a private graveside service in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Richard G. Hannan.
