FREDERICKTOWN — Donna I. Swihart, 88, of Fredericktown died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Fredericktown.
Donna was born Oct. 24, 1921, in Fredericktown to Stewart and Roselle (Melick) Morrison. She graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1939 and had spent her lifetime in the Fredericktown area. She was a former employee of Cochran’s Greenhouse in Fredericktown and was a member of the DORAME Community Garden Club in Fredericktown. In her younger years, Donna took pleasure in the domestic skills of cooking and sewing, caring for her family in the traditional roles of mother and grandmother. She always enjoyed her family and took great delight in all the family gatherings.
Donna was a faithful member of the Batemantown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Lennore (James) Wilson of Fredericktown; her son, Leroy (Shirley) Swihart of Fredericktown; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald (Joyce) Morrison of Mount Vernon; a brother-in-law, Hobart Williams of Chesterville; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Swihart; a daughter, Karen Hulse; a sister, Margaret Williams; and a nephew, David Williams.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
