HOWARD — Harold R. Martin, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 1, 1927, in West Virginia to the late Virgil and Julie Ann Martin. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra (Tollison) Martin of Howard; two daughters, Dianna (Richard) Stauffer of Mansfield and Melissa Martin-Oxenford of Mount Vernon; a son, Randall (Phyllis) Martin of Florida; grandchildren, Brent (Tara) Martin of Florida, Breeanna Martin of Florida, and Steven Stauffer – PCV, Ethiopia; a great-grandchild, Chase Martin; a brother, Frank Martin of West Virginia; a sister, Bernice Wilson of Canton; several nieces and nephews; and his special grandchildren, Kaylen, Taylor, Maddy and Charlotte.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; a brother; and a nephew, Chuck Powell.
A funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Dennis Eggerton will officiate. Burial, with graveside military rites, will follow in Millwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday.
