FREDERICKTOWN — Gilbert O. Dickerson Jr. “Junior,” 50, of Buena Vista Drive, Fredericktown, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, after a short but courageous battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 31, 1958, in Mount Vernon to Gilbert and May (Morningstar) Dickerson Sr. Junior was a proud employee of Kokosing Construction Co. for over 20 years and thought of everyone there as his second family. He enjoyed hot rod cars and attending the Goodguys Show in Columbus every year. Junior spent every weekend for two years getting a new tattoo from his son and proudly showing it off to his co-workers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois (Scammell) Dickerson; three sons, Jason (Heather) Dickerson of Fredericktown, Jeff (Nicki) Dickerson of Mount Vernon and Brian (Brandy Farley) Dickerson of Fredericktown; two grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Destinee and Carter Dickerson; his father, Gilbert (Mary) Dickerson of Mount Vernon; two brothers, Willard (Mary Beth) Dickerson of Walhonding and Christopher (Connie) Dickerson of Fredericktown; mother-in-law, Margaret Scammell; special friends, Chris Koelbl “Bone Saw” and Jason Hamilton “Stud”; and his canine companion, Kayla.

He was preceded in death by his mother, May Dickerson; and his father-in-law, James Scammell.

Junior will be surely missed by everyone he came into contact with.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown.
