SUNBURY — George Earl Smith, 60, of Sunbury died at home Nov. 30, 2009, surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 3, 1949, in Dover, Tenn., and was a 1968 graduate of Big Walnut High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam conflict, and was a retired carpenter with Union Local 200, Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda K. (Corwin); mother, Peggie (Bailey) Smith of Florida; children, Dee Dee Godby and Carl, both of Galena, Luke White of Delaware, Chris Smith of Columbus, Shari Wilson of Sunbury, Shawna Ellison of Centerburg; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Charles J. of Oklahoma, Roger of Florida, Bob and Mick of Galena, Barry of Delaware, Ron, Jeff, Darrel, all of Florida, Allen (Cheri) of Sunbury.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; and sister, Donna Smith.

Services will be held for his family at a later date, with arrangements entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
