MOUNT VERNON — Donald O. Caldwell, 79, of Mount Vernon died Dec. 12, 2009, following a short illness at Centerburg Pointe Nursing Center.
He was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Mount Vernon and was the son of the late Dow and Beatrice (Mossholder) Caldwell. Donald was a member of the First Baptist Church, a Korean War Army veteran, and was associated for many years with Doc Fix It.
He is survived by his son, Steven Caldwell of Howard; sister, Sondra Oliver of Greeley, Colo.; brother, Jack Caldwell of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a niece, Sherry Deubach of Greeley, Colo.
Graveside funeral service are being planned for later this week in St. John’s Cemetery and will be announced in the Mount Vernon News. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Caldwell family.
The family would like to thank Centerburg Pointe Nursing Center and Acclaim Hospice for their excellent care and kindness shown to Donald during his illness.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s name to Acclaim Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
