MOUNT VERNON — Betty Jo Dills, 80, of Blue Road, Mount Vernon, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

She was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Paintsville, Ky., to the late R.P. and Emma (Salyer) Cantrell. Betty retired as an operator from Ohio Bell. Betty enjoyed her cats and clipping coupons, but most important was the time she spent with her loving family.

She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (Eugene) Traxler of Mount Vernon; a son, Mark Dills of Riviera Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jesse (Hollie) Peden, Jordan (Philicia Henson) Peden, Cahlin Dills; and a great-grandson, Kaleb Peden. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Dills; two brothers, Bill Cantrell and Reney Cantrell; three sisters, Lesta Sparks, Esta Ball and Vesta Trimble.
