MOUNT VERNON — Walter R. Ronshausen, 82, of Oak Street, Mount Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.

He was born May 30, 1927, in St. Petersburg, Fla., to the late Walter M. and Florence (Rinehart) Ronshausen. Walter retired in 1977 from Chattanooga Glass Co. of Mount Vernon and he was a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Ashcraft) Ronshausen; his children, Catherine Collins of Mount Vernon, Bonnie (Ken) Fischer of Gahanna, Doug Ronshausen of Phoenix, Ariz., Susan Hand of Houston, Texas, Malinda Ronshausen of Mount Vernon, Tammy Ronshausen of Danville, Pamela Ronshausen of Mount Vernon and Mark Ronshausen of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; five great-grandsons; and his feline companions, Baby Boy and Happy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Monday from 11 a.m. to noon at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will follow at noon. Maj. Robert Bender will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
