MOUNT VERNON — Jobie Johnson Sr., 79, of Mount Vernon died Dec. 28, 2009, at Whispering Hills Care Center.

He was born Sept. 18, 1930 in Prestonsburg, Ky., to the late Robie and Mintha (Baldridge) Johnson.

Jobie is survived by two daughters, Carol (Norman) Reed and Debbie (Mike) Boeshart, both of Mount Vernon; six sons, Jobie Johnson Jr., Ron (Kim) Johnson and Mike Johnson, all of Danville, John (Helen) Johnson of Coshocton, Roy (Sherri) Johnson of Texas and Martin Johnson of Mount Vernon; sisters, Edith Allen of West Virginia, Marie (Jim) Hale of Bladensburg and Mintha Clipper of Gahanna; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Cody and Jason Johnson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon.
