MOUNT VERNON — Patrick Godsil, 79, of East Gambier Street, Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 24, 1930, in Galesburg, Ill., to the late David and Cloda (Burton) Godsil. Patrick served as a corporal in U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired in 1994 after 30 years of employment with Bell Fibre in Marion, Ind. Patrick was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the U.S. Marine Corps League.

He is survived by two sons, Matthew (Karen) Godsil of Mansfield, David (Susan) Godsil of Delaware; three daughters, Megan Mazzei of Mount Vernon, Sheila (Kevin) Peth of Pandora and Barbara (Doug) Brenneman of Mount Vernon; and 13 grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia A. Godsil; a brother, Joseph Godsil; and a sister, Shirley Lawrence.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a Rosary will follow at 4 p.m. A Mass of celebration will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. A graveside service will be Monday at 3 p.m. in Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery in Kenton.
