FREDERICKTOWN — Irvin L. Walter of Fredericktown passed away at his home with his family at his side on Dec. 30, 2009, at the age of 72.
Irvin was born Dec. 15, 1937, in Gallipolis, Ohio. He was a proud Army veteran 1959-64, and was also in the National Guard. Irvin worked 28 years at Kroger Bakery in Columbus and 10 years at Exact Weight and Scale in Columbus. He retired in 1999 from Kroger.
Irvin is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maria (D’Elia) Walter; son, Tony (Linda Kay) Walter of Marengo; daughters, Annette (Patrick) Durbin of Wasilla, Alaska, Loretta (Darrell) Patt of Montgomery, Ill., Linda Lee (Sam) Pumphrey of Mount Vernon; brothers, Eugene and David Walter of Gallipolis; and 11 grandchildren, Stephanie Walter Griffith, Craig Walter, Nathan, Nicholas, Lindsay and Timothy Durbin, Kelli Anne and Bethany Myers, Dallas and Daniel Patt and Logan Pumphrey.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Robert Walter and Sylvia Pearl Walter; and a brother, Stanley Russell Walter.
Friends may call Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Milford Church of Christ in Centerburg, with visitation one hour before beginning at 10 a.m.. Mr. Gary Thomas, Mr. Russell Waddell and Mr. Brad Duncan will officiate the service.
Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
