FREDERICKTOWN — Jerry A. Myers, 73, of Fredericktown died Wednesday morning, Jan. 6, 2010, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born July 7, 1936, in Centerburg, a son of the late Russell and Kathryn (Boyd) Myers. Jerry attended the Church of God in Fredericktown and was a Navy veteran. He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS in Centerburg. Jerry had worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Mount Vernon, the Nestle Company in Sunbury, and then retired in 1998 from Hi-San in Mount Vernon. After retirement, Jerry enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, working crossword puzzles, reading Louis Lamour western books and spending time with his granddaughters.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sally (Donovan) Myers, whom he married on Aug. 17, 1968; a son, Steve Myers of Caledonia; a daughter, Lori (Rod) Zolman of Fredericktown; three granddaughters, Taylor, Sutton and Sydney; a brother-in-law, Gerald Gregory of Pickerington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Earl Myers; and his sisters, Eunice Gregory and Janice Tharp.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, where funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Richard Prater and Randy Gardiner officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
