BUTLER — Jolene P. (Mazza) Lybarger, 74, of Lower Fredericktown-Amity Road, Butler, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Jolene was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Mount Vernon to Joseph C. Mazza Sr. and Arlene (Joris) Mazza and was a member of the Mount Vernon High School Class of 1953. She had spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area and was the former owner and operator of the Pizza Villa as well as the Hidden Hills Golf Course near Howard. Jolene was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Ladies Red Hat Society and numerous golf leagues in the Knox County area.
Surviving are her husband, Robert C. Lybarger, whom she married Aug. 10, 1953; her children, Lori Grubaugh of Mount Vernon, Mark (Nancy) Lybarger of Butler, Mike (Theresa) Lybarger of Fredericktown and Matthew (Lisa) Lybarger of Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Camille Compton Solie of Mount Vernon; and her stepmother, Paulina Mazza of Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents Jolene was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph G. “Jo Jo” Mazza Jr. and Michael J. Mazza Sr.
Friends may call Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m., with Mr. Kenneth Springer officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
