HOWARD — John O. Sanders, 78, of Howard, died on his 78th birthday, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the home of his daughter in Grove City, Ohio.
John was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Franklin, Pa., to Eugene and Ruth (Barlett) Sanders. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. John had been employed at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. in Franklin, Pa., for 20 years and retired from the J.B. Foote Foundry in Fredericktown. John was a member of the Howard Christian Church in Howard and the Dan Stone Post of the American Legion in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Ted Armentrout of Grove City, Ohio; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Richard Detar of Falls Creek, Pa., and Diane and Richard Shreffler of Emlenton, Pa.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Audene Sanders of Nickleville, Pa., Gary and Evelyn Sanders of Oakton, Va., and Dale and Kathy Sanders of Emlenton, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Sanders; and his son, Bruce Sanders.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with Mr. Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Howard.
