SAUGUS, Calif. — A service was held this morning at Bouquet Canyon Church, 27000 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus, CA 91350, to honor Maureen “Reenie” MacLaughlin, who passed away Jan. 2, 2010.

Maureen Kaye Fawcett was born March 26, 1948, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Gene Michael Fawcett and Ella Mae (Miller), the second child of three and their only daughter. A graduate of Tucson High School, where she ran track, “Reenie” was a soloist at church and enjoyed writing poetry. Afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis in 1972 as a young mom, she had short remissions from the disease, but was plagued with its trials throughout her lifetime — mostly with a smile and kind word of faith for others.

Reenie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Michael MacLaughlin; daughter, Tammie Richards and husband, David; son, James Pearson and wife, Lora; stepdaughter, Kim Soria and husband, Juan; five grandsons; and three step-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name bring hope for an MS cure
